Curriculum Vitae

Fabio Pittarello received his PHD in Computer Science from the Consortium of Universities of Bologna, Padova and Venice, with the thesis "Desktop 3D interfaces for Internet users: efficiency and usability issues".

From 1999 to 2004 he was a post-doc fellow at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice. He is currently assistant professor at the Dept. of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics of the Ca' Foscari University, where he teaches computer graphics, web design and human computer interaction for the Computer Science curriculum.

Besides, he teaches web and multimedia design for the Industrial Design curriculum at the University IUAV and interactive systems for the experimental degree in New Technologies for the Arts at the Fine Arts Academy of Venice.

His current research interests include both theoretical and application oriented aspects of HCI in web-based and ubiquitous contexts, with a particular reference to interaction in 3D and geolocalized environments, adaptivity, multimodality and universal access to information.

He serves as reviewer and program committee member in several international conferences and journals. He has been co-chair of MapISNet 2007, Workshop on Map-Based Interaction for Social Networks, (Rio de Janeiro, Brasile) held in in the context of Interact 2007 and chair of the special track on Multimedia and Geosystems held in the context of DMS 2008 (Boston, USA). In 2008 he was co-guest editor of the special issue Map Based Social Interaction for the PsychNology Journal.

He has published more than 50 papers in international refereed conferences and journals. His activity includes collaborations with industrial partners, public and cultural institutions, such as: Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, BMW Italia, La Biennale di Venezia, Palazzo Grassi, Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli al Lingotto, Regione Veneto, Università IUAV.
