Marcello Pelillo, Biographical Sketch



I was born in Taranto, Italy, on June 1, 1966 and received the "Laurea" degree (summa cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Bari, Italy, in 1989. After spending about a year at the IBM Scientific Center in Rome, I became Assistant Professor at the University of Bari, Italy, in 1991. Since March 1995, I am with the University of Venice "Ca' Foscari", where I am currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science and the Chair of the Computer Science School.

I've held visiting research/teaching positions at the following institutions:

My main research interests are in the areas of computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning, with an emphasis on optimization, graph-theoretic, and game-theoretic issues.

I am the Scientific Coordinator of the EU FP7 SIMBAD Project.

I am a Fellow of the IAPR and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
